STEVEN BOOCOCK
Antoni ‘Debut’ Double Bass Outfit Review.

What a piece of kit. Fantastic instrument for a fantastic price. First of all, the instrument was extremely well packaged. From the order to delivery (which was extremely prompt.) went so exceptionally smooth and professional.
Now, the instrument, this double bass has a great sound. I thought that I may have needed some type of set up to make the thing playable but that was not the case. Straight out of the box after placing the bridge and giving it its initial tuning n I was able to get some thing going. I am a guitarist in a Rockabilly practice band. Our basist is a seasoned rockabilly bassist who has been on the circuit for around 30 years with published recordings. He picked it up and was well impressed with it from the start. He was able to jump straight into practice. He said it felt comfortable. (all be it he said he would change the strings eventually) He was able to do all the technical stuff playing like the single, double, and triple slaps as well as the more traditional jazz type stuff. He said it is a great instrument for me to get learning on and should last me a lifetime if looked after. He also liked the tone and sound output without the pickups on it. We put a pickup on it and ran it through his practice amp and that was a great sound. All in all I am extremely pleased with my purchase and have started some practice now. It feels good and comfortable the way I was shown how to hold it. The only set up really was the spike, and that was just to set the height up to my size. The secondary tuning took a couple of days to settle in after stretching the strings and letting it settle to its new atmosphere and surroundings and getting acclimatized.
To be very honest I am completely satisfied and happy with the bass and look forward to many hours of fun and music. Thanks again.
